I have a question about inventory and cycle counting. We do cycle counting daily. I'm wondering if other companies also do a cycle count of some kind daily or weekly, and does it help with keepin…Continue

Thank you for the information, I am going to discuss it with my supervisor and see if it is something we can do with our system.

One method is to put product returned into a separate bucket that is not sellable. Let’s assume you have on hand ( total qty), reserved ( orders against) and available (for sale). A fourth bucket called unsalable would hold any qty that…

I have been reading the comments regarding cycle counts and inventory and came accross a main area of concern we have here. In theory, a warehouse would like to have the least amount of down time possible between an item being credited in the system and physically being returned to the slot. Cycle counting is an opportunity to see how good your systems and processes are.   While your checking this out, why not make sure on hand qty agrees with perpetual inventory qty.   If they are off the real detective work begins.…

Thanks for your reply Bob. I have one question. How do you determine if the short was a selector problem or a driver problem? We also count on a non shipping shift, but between credits and returns, our count tends to be off. Any idea?

High value and code dated items are cycle counted each day. This count is completed on a non-shipping shift when there are no pulls from the selection location.  Each shift we will also conduct an empty location walk off (WMS systems)…
